Culture, Community and Connection

Today, June 21, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and histories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. National Indigenous Peoples Day is a time for celebration, but also an invitation to listen, learn, and engage meaningfully with Indigenous voices and experiences.
Yesterday, our Grade 4A and 4/5 classes had the incredible opportunity to join the Town of Elk Point and the Elk Point Hospital for a special community event. Students engaged in moss bag teachings, created traditional beadwork, participated in Indigenous games, listened to rhythms of drumming, and took part in teachings inside the tipi. Thank you to our community partners for hosting this meaningful experience and for welcoming us to take part.
All students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 enjoyed a delicious bannock treat at lunchtime.
